In preparation for our project, we experimented with creating different styles of music. The students had to create four different emotions (angry, sad, happy, and anticipation) within one project. They were asked to use only the library of sounds in Scratch. We had a follow up lesson where we discussed the successes and challenges that arose during the music session. The students found that happy, angry and anticipation sounds were easy to find but had difficulty finding sad sounds. The challenges were playing each mood within one project and not all at the same time, connecting more than one sound to create a melody and combining sprite and music together. We will continue working on these challenges in our next lesson.

We have an example of one of our student’s work. We have a screen shot and we are learning how to export Scratch projects in video format.
